Brenna + Dane: Engaged!
He loves her. In a big way.
So big, that he had to show it in a big way, in a big space. When he decided to ask her to be his wife, it was, of course, in a baseball field. It only made sense, bringing together the two loves of his life.
Brenna and Dane met in college and are going on to spend the rest of their lives together. And judging by the time I spent with them, it will be a life full of love, hugs, and laughter.
Jaclyn, from Doxa Photography convinced these two to come to Annapolis to do their engagement session, and I am so glad they did. We took them to all the usual spots...and they loved the quaint historic-ness that everyone falls for when they visit this city. We found lots of hidden nooks, perfect for cozy, lovely pictures.
City Dock is the perfect place to look out over the water and contemplate a future life together.
We commandeered a balloon that was tied to a post downtown. It would have been a crime not to grab such a perfectly coordinating accessory!
After a quick outfit change in a souvenir shop (hey, you got to work with what's available!), we made our way up a few side streets.
The annual Fall Festival was taking place, so we decided to wander through.
After an hour of walking around, everyone was a little famished, so we stopped for a quintessential Annapolitan treat - ice cream!
Sitting on City Dock eating ice cream is a fabulous way to spend a relaxing afternoon. I'd do it everyday if I could. They make it look as fun as it is.
And one last shot of that awesome jacket...
Brenna and Dane, thank you for letting me come along to capture this exciting time in your life. I have no doubt your wedding is going to be beautiful!

Rubber Ducky
I got these rubber ducks for a pinhole project back in college. Someday, I plan to scan those prints to post...it was one of my favorite projects. I've been looking for a chance to get them out to play again, and found it earlier this week with a few leftover puddles. Photos were taken with my iPhone (using the Hipstamatic and Instagram apps) and my Canon Rebel 2000 with the dreamy Diana Lens.
I'm starting to find that I like things with whimsy, unexpectedness, and fantasy. I like to capture my subjects, especially people, with a sense of fun. My latest adventures have been with toys and natural things that inspire awe in me. Not sure where it's going to lead, but I like exploring it for now. Maybe it's just the influence of spring and newness and growth.

Annapolis in the Spring
I heart spring. Just in case you couldn't tell, I'm making it official.
Since the weather was so nice yesterday, I took a little photo walk of some of my favorite things in Annapolis and some of my favorite things about spring: boats, flowers blooming, sunny skies, water, the color yellow...
And this hearty daffodil, that just couldn't stay fenced in. It had to explore beyond its boundaries and experience the rest of the world.
All of these were taken on film; the for the top two, I used my new dreamy Diana Lens...which I love. It's blurry quality makes it feel whimsical and carefree...so much like spring!

Yellow Sneakers
My facebook profile will tell you that my favorite color is all of them, but if you ask Ben, he'll give the real answer:
My favorite color is all of them but yellow is slightly more favorite.
Case in point...my sneakers. Wanna guess how long I've had them?
Since 8th grade. And I'm still in love with them.
I guess I should explain that a little further. In 8th grade, I got a pair of these yellow shoes and refused to ever wear any other sneaker ever again. Because when I wore them, I felt like myself. They were so me.
Now, obviously, I loved them so much that I wore the original pair out. Sometime after I was already into my second pair, I remember telling my mom that I didn't want any other sneakers, just the yellow ones. My mom must have told my aunt in Texas (and probably the rest of the family, too) about it, and by some miracle, my aunt found two more pairs and sent them my way. The first three pairs lasted me through the end of high school - until I decided that they were cliche and I broke up with them in order to expand my sneaker horizons. I swear, sneakers, it was me, not you.
Then one summer during college, I was cleaning out a closet because we were moving for the one millionth time. At the bottom of a mountain of shoe boxes was a brown one that opened revealing the most beautiful pair of shoes in all the world. There, in the box, was my very last pair of yellow sneakers...shiny and still brand new.
Once again, just like in 8th grade, I fell head-over-heels in love.
The last pair is no longer brand new, but just like the very first pair, I feel like my best self when I'm wearing them - comfortable in my own shoes.
